City receives Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for second straight year
For a second straight year, the City of Nanaimo has been recognized for its fiscal reporting.
In a press release, the city said it has been awarded a Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada for its 2021 financial report.
The award is conferred to governments that “publish an easily readable and efficiently organized annual financial report, whose contents conform to program standards,” the press release stated, and further, reports should exceed basic requirements and display “an effort to clearly communicate the municipal government’s financial picture, enhance an understanding of financial reporting by municipal governments and address user needs.”
Mayor Leonard Krog was grateful to staff members for the work they put into budgeting and financial reporting.
