Debby leaves some airline passengers ‘stuck in Boston’
Tropical Storm Debby’s influence on New England weather will not be felt until later this week, but the storm’s impact is already affecting some airline passengers as they try to depart from Boston Logan International Airport.”So I’m trying to fly back to Charlotte, North Carolina and I’m absolutely stuck in Boston,” said Danielle Sparmer. “I was supposed to fly back yesterday and we’ve had to switch our flight three times and we’re just crossing our fingers to get home tonight.”FlightAware reported more than 100 delays and 10 cancelations by midday Thursday at Logan. There were more than 100 delayed flights at Logan on Wednesday and dozens of cancelations. “I’ve never experienced a canceled flight or this many delays,” said Tyler Lynch, who is also from Charlotte.Sparmer and Lynch said they’ve been trying other airlines and looking for alternatives. “We’re trying to stay positive. We ended up having to crash on a friend’s couch that got married two days ago and ruined their little honeymoon phase,” Sparmer added.”My flight yesterday was delayed six hours,” said Fiona Murphy, another traveler who hoped to fly out of Boston on Wednesday. “I got delayed, I think, three or four times. So, it’s been a bit chaotic.” Larry Hysell is also stuck in Boston after traveling internationally. He is trying to get home to Orlando, Florida. “We just got a text saying our 8 p.m. flight has been changed to 9:49 p.m.,” he said.Hysell said his airline also offered him the chance to rebook on another flight.
