AirAsia Issues New Travel Advisory, Urging Passengers To Check Flight Status During Langkawi LIMA 2025

Monday, May 19, 2025

AirAsia has issued a new travel advisory for passengers flying to and from Langkawi during the 17th Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025), which will be held from April 20 to 24, 2025. Due to airspace restrictions and increased traffic during this high-profile event, travelers should expect potential delays and disruptions to their flight schedules. AirAsia advises all guests to regularly check their flight status and follow updated guidelines to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey. This proactive measure is aimed at minimizing inconvenience, helping passengers stay informed, and making their travel experience as seamless as possible during the peak event period.

AirAsia would like to remind all passengers traveling to and from Langkawi during the 17th Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025) from April 20 to 24, 2025, to anticipate potential flight delays due to airspace restrictions during the event. Travelers are advised to regularly check their flight status and follow the travel guidelines below for a smooth experience.

For an easy journey, guests are encouraged to check in via the AirAsia MOVE app, available from 14 days before the scheduled departure up to one hour prior.

Important notes:

  • The AirAsia MOVE app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Huawei AppGallery. Use the app to stay updated with flight status, including real-time flight updates under the ‘Flight Status’ section.
  • Counter check-in services are only available for passengers requiring special assistance, including those with reduced mobility, traveling with an infant (under 24 months), pregnant passengers, senior citizens, or minors traveling alone.
  • Pregnant travelers must complete a form at the counter prior to boarding, and those who are more than 27 weeks pregnant must present a doctor’s medical certificate.
  • Guests with reduced mobility can book Special Assistance (Wheelchair Service) at the time of booking or via the ‘My Bookings’ section in the AirAsia MOVE app, at least four hours before departure.

For international flights, passengers are reminded to verify the visa requirements and entry conditions for all countries they are traveling to and transiting through, as these may change. Travelers should check with the relevant embassies or consulates for the most up-to-date information.

The AirAsia MOVE app also allows passengers to upload a photo of their visa and receive their full boarding pass, ensuring a smooth and efficient boarding process without the need for long queues.

Travelers are advised to arrive early at the airport—at least two hours prior for domestic flights and three hours for international flights—especially during this busy travel period. Please note that the check-in counter will close one hour before departure at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) and 45 minutes prior to departure at other Malaysian airports for domestic flights.

Take advantage of the e-Boarding Pass feature in the AirAsia MOVE app to board your flight seamlessly, without the need to print a paper boarding pass. The e-Boarding Pass is accepted at all Malaysian airports and many global airports where AirAsia operates.

At the airport, passengers can use self-service kiosks to print baggage tags and complete the self-bag drop process. After checking in via the app, simply scan the QR code on the e-Boarding Pass at the kiosk to print baggage tags and proceed to the self-bag drop counters.

Baggage requirements: Each guest is allowed one cabin bag (maximum dimensions 56 x 36 x 23 cm) and one additional small item such as a laptop bag, handbag, or small bag. The total weight for these two items must not exceed 7kg.

AirAsia has issued a new travel advisory for passengers traveling to Langkawi during LIMA 2025, advising to expect delays due to airspace restrictions. Passengers are urged to regularly check their flight status for a smoother journey.

Additionally, passengers can add extra baggage or increase their baggage allowance up to four hours before departure through the AirAsia MOVE app.
