Costco membership perks cover travel and pet, car, home, life insurance
On the Treasure Coast, Costco opened its first store in Stuart in April. Now it’s moving its West Palm Beach warehouse to Port St. Lucie.
Costco members can save money on more than just items in the store. You can get travel discounts, health benefits and appliance installations with a membership.
Costco opened its first retail store on the Treasure Coast on April 25, 2025, at 3173 S. Kanner Highway in Stuart.
A Costco distribution center will open in the Southern Grove area of Port St. Lucie, replacing a distribution center in West Palm Beach.
Here’s what to know about Costco memberships.
Costco membership types
There are three different kinds of Costco memberships:
- Executive: Labeled as the one with the “best value and exclusive benefits” it is $130 a year. It includes benefits such as secluded shopping hours as well as an annual 2% reward capped at $1,250 on any Costco and Costco Travel purchases. Other advantages include a $10 monthly credit for ordering via Instacart on purchases over $150, as well as additional value on Costco services.
- Gold Star: Labeled as an “everyday value card,” it is $65 a year. The benefits it shares with the Executive package include access to its warehouses and online store, along with two membership cards for you and someone else in your household.
- Business: Similar to the Gold Star package, it is $65 a year. This level is marketed to business owners with access to its Business Centers.
Costco Travel agency benefits
Costco’s in-house travel agency, offered to executive members, helps book with savings on airfare, hotels, rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and more. Destinations range from Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe and Mexico.
Any travel booked through Costco Travel is applied to the guest’s annual 2% reward, showing up as a reimbursement check at the end of the year.
Costco home benefits
Costco offers deliveries and installations for appliances you buy at a Costco store.
Costco will even haul old stuff away for you, including dishwashers, refrigerators, ovens, microwaves and more.
Costco Auto Program benefits
If you book a rental car through Costco, you’ll find it’s a better deal than other sites.
If you want to buy a new car or service your current vehicle, you can save through the Costco Auto Program. Costco partners with automotive dealerships to provide additional saving opportunities, its website says.
If you purchase tires from Costco, the installation, rotation, flat repairs, balancing and warranty coverage is included. You can also save a few cents per gallon at Costco gas stations.
Costco health care and pet, auto, home and life insurance
Costco has savings on health care and end-of-life planning with offers on caskets and urns, even going as far as delivering them to the funeral home for you.
They also provide auto, pet, home, and life insurance for members.
Through partnership with the Sesame health-care marketplace, you can find discounts on virtual doctor visits and health-care services such as $29 primary care visits, $79 therapy and other checkups such as hearing tests. Deals also apply to prescription refills, eyewear and hearing aids with no insurance required.
