Country singer Drake White cancels Upstate NY concert after tour bus crash

A country singer has canceled an Upstate New York concert after a tour bus crash.

Drake White revealed on Instagram that he had to scrap Thursday night’s performance at Empire Live in Albany due to an “accident” around 2:30 a.m. that morning. White shared a photo of damage to the bus’ front end and a shattered windshield, adding that the driver was hospitalized.

“Everybody is OK as far as the band and the crew,” White said. “The bus driver is currently in the hospital… We will, unfortunately, not be able to play our show in Albany, New York, tonight.”

Empire Live said full refunds are being issued to all ticket holders.

“Thank you to the people who bought tickets in Albany,” he added. “Sometimes, unfortunately, these things happen as we put a lot of miles on these roads, and I just appreciate your thoughts and prayers for being with our bus driver.”

White did not specify what happened in the crash or if any other vehicles were involved. It’s unclear where the accident occurred; he last performed in Indiana on Oct. 12 as part of his “Keep It Movin’” Tour.

“Oh man, I’m sorry. Sending love to you guys and your driver!” one fan wrote on Instagram.

“The Academy is sending all of our thoughts & prayers to you and the whole crew,” the Academy of Country Music Awards’ official account said.

“Way to keep trucking brotha, prayers for D,” musician Justin Jeansonne added.

White, 42, is a “country soul” singer who also performed as Drake White & The Big Fire. The Alabama native has released three albums featuring popular songs like “Makin’ Me Look Good Again,” “Mix ‘Em with Whiskey,” and “Power of a Woman,” plus opened for artists like Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Little Big Town.

White recently released an EP of covers with his take on songs by Teddy Swims (“Lose Control”), Billie Eilish (“Birds of a Feather”) and Johnny Cash (“Ring of Fire”), in July. He also released a new single, “Nights on Fire,” last month.

“Nights on Fire is the new song and is the hammer of all hammers. Good luck, singing this one at karaoke folks,” he joked. “Tell your friends dogs and neighbors.”
