How much does Faye cost?

How Faye compares to other travel insurance companies

Faye vs. Travel Guard®

Both Travel Guard and Faye offer an easy online purchasing experience with first-rate customer service.

But while Faye has just one plan, Travel Guard offers three tiers—from the budget-level Essential policy to the comprehensive Deluxe policy— plus a last-minute travel plan that forgoes trip cancellation coverage.

Travel Guard® Travel Insurance

  • Policy highlights

AIG Travel Guard offers Essential, Preferred and Deluxe policies, as well as an annual plan and Pack N’ Go Plan for same-day travel. Add-ons include coverage for rental vehicles, pets, adventure sports and wedding cancellations

  • Cancel For Any Reason coverage

Add-on to Preferred and Deluxe plans reimbursing 50% of trip costs if purchased within 15 days of booking

  • Pre-existing condition waiver

Available with any plan purchased within 15 days of initial trip deposit

Faye’s plan includes higher coverage limits in several areas, including emergency medical expenses: It maxes out at $250,000, compared to $100,000 with Travel Guard’s Deluxe policy. It also offers twice as much coverage for lost luggage than Travel Guard.

Faye’s CFAR insurance also reimburses up to 75% of trip expenses, compared to just 50% with Travel Guard.

But Travel Guard comes out on top for affordability: For the same family trip to the U.K., even its Deluxe Plan was cheaper than Faye’s quoted rate.

Faye vs. World Nomads

World Nomads’ four plans max out at $15,000 for both trip cancellation and interruption. Faye however, reimburses 100% of your non-refundable trip costs if you cancel and 150% if there’s a trip interruption.

World Nomads Travel Insurance

  • Policy highlights

Standard, Explorer, Epic single-trip plans and annual/multi-trip plan, with CFAR available with top-tier policies

  • Cancel For Any Reason coverage

Add-on for Explorer and Epic plans covering 75% of nonrefundable costs if purchased seven days before initial deposit. (Not available in New York.)

  • Pre-existing condition waiver

Available with Explorer and Epic plans purchased seven days before first deposit.

You’ll need to purchase World Nomads’ priciest Epic plan to get the same $250,000 in medical expenses coverage that Faye offers, and to get the same CFAR coverage that covers 75% of trip costs.

If you travel on the wild side, however, coverage for more than 250 adventure activities — including bungee jumping, snorkeling and ziplining — is standard with all World Nomads plans. Dozens more, from cliff diving to parachuting, are covered on higher tiers.

With Faye, getting coverage for adventure activities is an extra add-on.

A quote from World Nomads found that our family of four would pay about $331 for the Standard plan, $551 for the Explorer plan and $1,016 for the Epic plan. Faye’s quote was $690 for the same trip.

Is Faye travel insurance right for me?

Faye travel insurance FAQs

Is Faye travel insurance legit?

Faye is a legitimate travel insurance company owned by German conglomerate Zenner, Inc. Its policies are underwritten by the United States Fire Insurance Company.

Can I get a Faye policy with a pre-existing medical condition?

Faye offers a waiver for pre-existing medical conditions, but you need to buy your policy within 14 days of making your initial trip payment and you are medically able to travel when you purchase your policy. Not all conditions are covered by waivers, so check with the provider for particulars.

How do I file a claim with Faye?

You can file a claim with Faye online, on the mobile app, by calling 833-240-7056 or by emailing [email protected]. You’ll need to first cancel with your airline, hotel, tour operator and any other providers and get proof of payment or your original confirmation. Depending on your reason for cancelling and the nature of your claim, you’ll also need to provide receipts, proof of cancellation, documentation from the airline, a medical certificate or copies of accident or police reports.

Does Faye cover cancellations due to Covid-19?

Faye treats Covid-19 like any other illness, so you should be able to get reimbursed if you need to cancel your trip or access interruption benefits and medical coverage if you need to cut your trip short.
