Want to be the next Ghost Rider?

Ride 347, the shuttle service with daily trips from Maricopa to Phoenix Sky Harbor, is offering bus excursions for all ages to see InMaricopa’s Mysterious Mansion Mayhem tour of homes.

Starting tomorrow and until Halloween night, the public will vote for which of those houses is the most haunted in Maricopa.

“People have been depressed for so long and we’re just trying to provide something fun that’s affordable for them to do with their kids,” said Lori Riley, co-owner of Ride 347 with her husband, Kevin.

The shuttle service will operate one tour just for seniors and three tours for all ages. The senior tour for those aged 55 and older will be Oct. 28 from 5:15 to 7 p.m. and all-ages tours will be Oct. 25, 27 and 29 from 7 to 8:45 p.m.

“There’s a lot of people in our town that want to get out of their house and do stuff,” Riley said. “But for whatever reason they either can’t drive, don’t drive or don’t feel safe driving.”

The pickup location for all tours will be in the northeast parking lot at Copper Sky Regional Park. To book the all-ages tour, riders can visit the Ride347 website and then go to the special events tab. The senior tour is on the senior trip tab under Halloween Tour.

Adult and senior tickets for the tour cost $13 and child tickets cost $10. Passengers are welcomed and encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes for the tour.

“We’re going to dress up and we’re going to decorate the buses,” Riley said.

InMaricopa’s Mysterious Mansion Mayhem interactive map will be released tomorrow with 46 houses signed up if you want to take the tour yourself.

The tour will not visit all of the houses as that would take several hours, Riley said, but she is going to find a route that showcases as many spooky spots as possible.

“We’re going to do our best to have them see as many as they can,” Riley said, “and we’ll try really hard to have the ones that people put a lot of effort into get seen. I’m not trying to skew the results of the votes because I know people spend a lot of time and money on this.”

Riley noted shuttle services to the airport on the nights of the tours will not be affected and will still take place.

She also warned the tour for Oct. 27 is almost sold out.

“If the dates that we have get packed quickly and we find more people, we might be able to add some times,” Riley said.

Mysterious Mansion Mayhem is a 17-year tradition in Maricopa first put on by the city government. Since last year, the special event has been presented by InMaricopa.

Mysterious Mansion Mayhem last year saw its best turnout ever with more than 30,000 votes declaring Shaun Martin’s Cradle Bay Sanatorium in Alterra the most haunted estate in the city.
